This Mum Thing-toy review

As a Mum of three I always dread birthday season, as a deluge of plastic tat comes our way. The kids love all the new toys, but I’m forever trying to find places to hide said tat, and create a stylish space for them to play*
*This could not be further from the truth, and anyone that knows me knows full well that it all gets chucked into the trusty Ikea storage unit that is well loved and trusted by parents across the land - a girl can dream though right?

I’ve been a fan of Iga’s wonderful collection of wooden toys over at Happy Little Folks for a long time. I’ve got a collection of her toys in the studio and they are always a huge hit with the little ones that visit.

Based in London, Iga creates and stocks quality, unique designs all ethically made in Europe. Her toys are to die for, and are sure to take you back to your own childhood. I don’t know about you but there is something deeply nostalgic about simple wooden toys, something that makes me want to get on the floor and enjoy some good old fashioned playtime.

One of my favourites is the wooden musical ball, containing a bell to create a lovely melodic response to play. I’m not usually a fan of noisy toys, and have been known to remove batteries/bells before! This, however, is a far cry from the irritating collection of plastic musical crap we have at home and is actually quite satisfying - it was on my desk for a while acting as a stress-reliever!

Another fave is the wooden bi-plane. Jack is vehicle mad, so plays with this for hours perfecting his plane sound effects. Next on my shopping list is the wooden forklift truck (when I say my shopping list, I obvs mean Jack…honest!)

The wooden stacker is popular amongst little visitors, and really promotes interaction and play between parents and child. I defy you to get involved when your kid puts the rings back in the wrong order - my OCD kicks in big time!

Nuturing inquisitive minds, young explores adore playing with these wooden toys. Iga’s customer service is excellent, and delivery is prompt.

This review was not sponsored in any way, I have brought and paid for the wooden toys mentioned in the above post. I’m simply sharing my love for Happy Little Folk! The children pictured above do not belong to me, they are too well behaved to be part of my tribe.
